Lord Shiva Annabhishekam / Sri Sathyanarayana Puja
Wednesday, 16 Oct 2024

Significance of Shiva Annabhishekam

Annabhishekam is a unique life-force invoking ritual using rice for Lord Shiva, the Master of higher consciousness. During this once-a-year ritual to the Supreme Being Lord Shiva, the full Shiva Lingam is covered with Cooked Rice. The pranic energy and life-nourishing qualities of rice invoke the power of Lord Shiva to come into the Shiva Lingam, a symbol of his energy and power.

Lord Shiva is considered as the creator of food and life, and he alone can offer grace and protection. Setting up a vibration of gratitude within you will help to attract all positive energy and good things toward you. This helps in erasing the negative karmas. Performing rituals on Full Moon to Shiva during this month can free you from problems as you express gratitude for what you have been given. After the rituals and offerings, the rice becomes the prasad, which will be distributed to people.

Significance of Sri Sathyanarayana Puja

Sathyanarayana Puja is one of the most conducted ceremonies. It is usually done to seek the blessings of Lord Vishnu towards attaining a specific goal, as Thanksgiving after a goal is attained, or for the general well-being and prosperity of devotees.

Sathya means Truth. Narayan means the one that abides in everything and everybody. Therefore, this puja, or the worship of Sathyanarayan, a form of the Lord Vishnu, suggests that to overcome problems and difficulties in life caused either due to deeds of previous birth or similar factors can be overcome by worshipping the lord of Truth. Devoting time to the Truth and worshipping is a way of being truthful to oneself and being truthful to others. The more honest and truthful we come, the better we can worship the Lord Narayan in ourselves as well as others.

Sathyanarayana Puja can be performed on any auspicious day after consulting the almanac. But Poornima (Full Moon day) or Sankranti are most auspicious day for this puja.
Our Temple observes this puja regularly on all Poornima days. All the devotees are requested to participate in this event and be blessed by Lord Sathyanarayana.
