Significance of Vaikunta Ekadasi

Vaikunta Ekadasi is one of the important and auspicious days for Hindus and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It occurs in the Hindu calendar, in the month of Margashirsha (between December and January). When observed, it bestows liberation from the cycle of birth and death. In India, this day is the most important religious day at the Tirupathy Balaji temple, Srirangam Ranganatha temple and Bhadrachalam temple. In Kerala it is known as Swarga Vathil Ekadasi.

The significance of this day can be traced to the Padma Purana. Lord Vishnu took the form of his female shakthi named "Ekadashi" and vanquished the demon Muran. In celebration of this event, whoever observes this Ekadashi day will enter Vaikuntam which is the abode of Lord Vishnu. The "Vaikunta Dwaram" or "the gate to the heaven" is opened on this day. This is the passage encircling the innermost sanctum of the Lord.

Vaikunta is a place where there is no lack, or shortage; there is only abundance. It is written in the Srimad Bhagawatam, that everyone in Vaikunta is Lord Narayana Himself (meaning that in such a divine abode, every soul is elevated to Divinity and appears as Lord Vishnu, the Supreme Consciousness that permeates all of Creation). The word Kuntha in Hindi means shortage. And a place where there is no lack, or shortage of anything, that is what Vaikunta is. Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day (Tithi) between the New Moon and Full Moon.

“If a person fasts on Ekadashi, I will burn up all his sins and bestow upon him My transcendental abode…." Ekadashi is the most meritorious day for destroying all kinds of sins, and it has appeared in order to benefit everyone. This day was created as a supreme medicine to remove the miseries of material existence of body and mind. One will not suffer from mental problems.
  • Single Ekadashi fast earns the same merit as the one who feeds 1000 mendicants every day for 60,000 years.
  • It prevents and cures illnesses and diseases as it helps in the detoxification of the body and cleansing of bowel system.
  • It gives 10 times merit in comparison to a person giving away in charity 1000 cows to a learned brahmana.
  • According to Brahma- Vaivarta Purana, it is believed that Lord Vishnu removes the sins of those who observe this fast. The obstacles to spiritual progress are removed and perfection in life is achieved.
  • Sage Vasishta in Narada Purana says, “Neither Ganga, Kasi, Kurukshetra, Yamuna, Reva, Vedika, Gaya, Pushkara and Chandrabhaga, none of them are equal to the day of Lord Hari, Ekadashi. Even if one fasts on Ekadashi unknown to others, all his sins are burnt at once and he attains the spiritual world.”
  • Ekadashi fasting is believed to liberate one from the cycle of births and deaths.

Powerful Maha Vishnu Aspects in One Holy Place is very rare

Parashakthi Temple is one of the rarest places with an intense manifestation of Maha Vishnu at one location of Lord Balaji with Sri Devi and Bhoodevi, Lord Bhoga Srinivasa Murthy, Sri Anantha Padmanabhaswamy, Swarna Garuda Bhagwan, Sri Sita Rama, Sri Hayagriva and Sri Lakshmi Narasimha. Participation with family and friends is auspicious to receive the blessings from all of the Maha Vishnu aspects in one day at the Temple.

Significance of Saligramas @ our Temple

The Divine stone Saligramas are a manifestation of Maha Vishnu, just as Rudrakshas are a manifestation of Lord Shiva. The marks on the Saligrama are natural with the pattern often representing that of Sudarshan Chakra, the Discus of Lord Vishnu. Our Divine Mother has blessed us with two rare and special Saligramas, one with 13 shells, and the other with 14 shells. The 27 shells are symbolic of the 27 Nakshatras, signifying that The Divine Mother's Grace is granted to each and every one of us. The two Saligramas were given to Dr. G. Krishna Kumar by a mystic (Siddha) in the Himalayas on behalf of All Devotees, on two separate occasions. The Siddha performed a great Homa lasting an entire day, using 135 different mystical herbs, during which many cosmic forces visited the Homa site and became a part of these Saligramas. This most precious and sacred object is given to us by The Divine Mother's kindness and grace, so that all of us can benefit.
